Our History
The History of Troy Dualam
CPF Dualam was founded in 1956, by John Kidd as Canadian Plastics Fabricators, later becoming CPF Plastics and CPF Dualam in the 1970s. The company was acquired in 1990 by Dualam Plastics, headed by Paul Habib.
Dualam was one of the first companies to fabricate piping & process vessels combining thermoplastics and fiberglass reinforced thermoset resins. It became the technology and quality standard with prestigious clients such as Dow Chemical, Olin Chemical, PPG and many more chemical processors, particularly in the chloralkali Industry. As more and more companies recognized the benefits of thermoplastics such as PVC, PP, CPVC, PVDF, ECTFE, FEP, PFA, MFA in severe chemical services, the demand for quality Dual-Laminates grew steadily.
The company expanded rapidly between 2003 and 2010 by acquiring Troy Manufacturing in Brockville, Ontario and Prolite Plastics, which became CPF Dualam Vancouver.
Troy Manufacturing was established by Tom Roy in 1981, supplying quality FRP piping and process equipment to a broad range of high end chemical processors. Ian Trower managed the operation until 2015. Ian is a graduate chemical engineer with vast FRP experience.
Prolite Plastics and CPF Dualam Vancouver
Prolite Plastics and CPF Dualam Vancouver were both operated by GuyleMcCuaig, a recognized industry leader in piping design and specification Despite its rapid growth, the Dualam Group maintained its commitment to quality engineered composite equipment & on-time delivery. The Group extended its product offerings to the power industry (Flue gas desulfurization), mining, metal refining, pulp & paper, semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, and other industries in need of corrosion resistance equipment.
The Dualam Group was sold in 2010 to ZCL Composites, a public company with major activities in FRP petroleum & fluid handling equipment, based in Edmonton, Alberta.
ZCL exited the corrosion market and sold the assets of CPF Dualam, Montreal and Troy Manufacturing to Troy Dualam Inc., headed by Paul Habib.
The company is once again posed for significant growth, offering quality, engineered composite FRP and Dual-Laminate equipment, respecting the 50+ years old tradition, established by its founding fathers. Paul Habib, Ian Trower & Guyle McCuaig are uniting their efforts to offer clients unprecedented expertise to address their particular corrosion challenges
